The City faithful are hopeful of a good campaign for Declan Devine's side who have brought back local duo Danny Lafferty and David Parkhouse to the Brandywell.
It's also a big season for young goalkeeper Nathan Gartside, who received a shock call up to Ian Baraclough's Northern Ireland squad for next week's World Cup qualifying games against Italy and Bulgaria and Derry fans are hoping he has an impressive year between the sticks.

Last year was so disappointing but hope springs eternal. New broom, new young energetic players and more local based players. I’m looking forward to the new season even if the team is an unknown quantity. Hopefully we’ll be back in the Brandywell by July as it would be great to see a live game with friends as we have all missed our football fix.

I wasn’t expecting us to win the league but I certainly wasn’t expecting a near relegation battle last year! We paid the price for some awful recruitment and our European result was woeful. I’m always optimistic for any new season starting and I really can’t wait to get back and hear ‘Teenage Kicks’ blast out for the first time. I’ll never cry about watching a bad game again!”

I'm really looking forward to the new season kicking off this weekend! Obviously we still can't get into the Brandywell yet, but I'll be tuning in on WatchLOI. There's nothing like being at the Brandywell. Hopefully things will start to open up soon and the City fans will have a chance of getting into the games. I'm looking forward to seeing all those familiar faces again and the Brandywell roar. I'm looking forward to seeing Parky, he was scoring in pre-season and hopefully he can continue that into the season opener.

I have my streaming all set up for the weekend so I can watch the match with no issues. There’s nothing like supporting your local team. It will be like Christmas morning when we all get to go back to the Brandywell. The atmosphere has been great since we got the stadium redeveloped and I think the team were missing that '12th man' last year. I'm really looking forward to seeing David Parkhouse. We struggled scoring goals last season averaging 1 goal per game so I think getting David back to the Brandywell was a massive signing.
