The City faithful are hopeful of a good campaign for Declan Devine's side who have brought back local duo Danny Lafferty and David Parkhouse to the Brandywell.
It's also a big season for young goalkeeper Nathan Gartside, who received a shock call up to Ian Baraclough's Northern Ireland squad for next week's World Cup qualifying games against Italy and Bulgaria and Derry fans are hoping he has an impressive year between the sticks.

I think we have to have realistic expectations for this season as most clubs have improved their squads in the off season. It’s going to be a tough league this year but Decky has made some good signings so I’d be happy to be challenging for Europe and hopefully get a good cup run. After the year everyone has experienced, getting back to the ‘Brandy’ would give us something to look forward to each week and hopefully performances on the pitch will give everyone in the city a big lift.

There’s always a great sense of anticipation at the start of any season and particularly this year when there’s been fewer things to look forward to. I think everyone has missed live sport and it’ll be a huge lift to get back into the Brandywell when it’s safe to do so. It’s not just about seeing the games it’s a real social event to see people and feel part of the crowd. It’s great to see a player of Danny Lafferty’s quality and experience back at the club.

Last season was a hard to watch and I have to be honest, for the first time ever I lost interest in League of Ireland football. The live streaming helped a bit but it’s just not the same as walking into that Brandywell, meeting friends, as we are a big family in Block J. I can’t wait to get back to the Brandywell this year but it won’t be the same to not see big Hugh Curran’s face there.

I'm really looking forward to the new season, it's been a long Winter! Great to see LOI football back again and I really hope everyone gets behind Declan and the boys from kick off! I can't wait to get back to the Brandywell, nothing beats the buzz and the Friday night atmosphere. If I have to single out one player it has to be Parky, it's great to see him back in the Candystripes!
