Are you celebrating Halloween at home this year? Send us your photos

With Derry’s traditional Halloween celebrations moving online this year due to the ongoing pandemic, we will be missing the amazing sights on our streets with the fantastic costumes the people of Derry create.

Many will have their own family celebrations at home, subject to the current restrictions, and if you are planning to dress up, the ‘Journal’ wants to see your Halloween costumes.

So why not send in photographs of your little superheroes, witches, zombies, princesses and ghouls, and see them published in the paper.

To have your photographs included, you can either send them in via the Derry Journal Facebook page, or by emailing [email protected] with the subject ‘Halloween at home.’

Derry City and Strabane District Council have a jam packed schedule of online events available, to help make your at home celebrations even more special. Among the highlights of this year’s programme are Little Horrors story-telling sessions, online tutorials in Halloween make-up, costume making, and pumpkin carving, fireworks displays, First Light and a series of community led interactive projects.

Join Walter the Skeleton, the terrifying Cailleach, the Morrigan, the Banshee and the Red Branch Knight as they share some terrifying traditional tales of Halloween in Ireland.

Samhain Sessions will be making a welcome return showcasing the talents of some of the finest local and national artists. The full virtual programme will run from October 28, until November 1. View the full programme at derryhalloween.com/highlights
