Derry firm wins top award

Murdock Builders Merchants has won the Best Multi-Location branch accolade at the Octabuild Builders Merchant Awards in Belfast. The Skeoge Road business, which has a number of locations in Northern Ireland, has been running for 19 years and employs 21 full and part-time staff at its Derry branch. James Burke, the independent judge, commented on Murdock's strong management respect for staff and their flexible approach to team building.

This is the fourth Octabuild Builders Merchant Awards and Mr Burke was lavish in his praise of the ‘exceptionally well-run businesses’. He said that since the last awards in 2014 there was a stronger focus on sales growth structures and a greater focus on using digital media.

The awards were presented by Jonathan Bell MLA, Minister of Enterprise, Trade and Investment before an audience of almost 200 people representing the merchant and building industry.
