Only a thousand pounds was spent by the Department of Education producing material in Irish over the past three years, it's emerged.

Education Minister Peter Weir outlined the spending details in response to the TUV MLA Jim Allister who asked how much the Department of Education spent "producing material in Irish".

Mr. Weir said that in each of the last three complete financial years the expenditure had been as follows: 2017/18 - £524.44; 2018/19 - £36.35; and in 2019/20 - £482.56.

In total £1043.35 was spent by DE.
