COVID-19 doubles on Derry cityside while falling sharply in Strabane

The prevalence of coronavirus has doubled on the cityside, risen slightly in the Waterside, and dropped sharply in Strabane.

Between February 15 and February 21 there were 39 SARS-CoV-2 cases on the cityside (BT48) giving a rate per 100,000 of 64.1. This was double the figure of 32.9 per 100,000 for the February 8 to February 14 period recorded last Monday.

Derry COVID-19 rate is now 73.7 per 100,000 and fifth lowest in the northIn the BT47 postal area which covers the Waterside and rural north Derry as far as Dungiven there were 47 positive tests over the same weekly period giving a rate per 100,000 of 76, up slightly on the figure of 72.7 this time last week.

In Strabane (BT82) there were 21 cases giving a prevalence rate of 78.1 per 100,000, a large decrease from 178.5 last week. In the Castlederg area (BT81) the case rate was 126.7 per 100,000 with 10 cases registered during the week. This was down slightly on the figure of 139.4 reported last week.
