Derry COVID-19 rate rises back above 80 cases per 100,000

The seven-day coronavirus rate in Derry and Strabane has risen again to 82.3 cases per 100,000 people and is now sixth lowest in the north.

Between February 19 and February 25, there were 124 confirmed positive cases of the virus in the district giving a seven day rate per 100,000 of 75.7, up from 75.7 yesterday.

Derry/Strabane is now recording the sixth lowest coronavirus rate in the north. The lowest rates are in Fermanagh and Omagh (39.4), Newry, Mourne and Down (51.1), Causeway Coast and Glens (55.5), Ards and North Down (60.9) and Antrim and Newtownabbey (81.3).

Rates are higher in Mid Ulster (136.3), Mid and East Antrim (127.7), Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon (121.7), Belfast (114.6) and Lisburn and Castlereagh (98.5).

The daily change in the cumulative number of patients with a positive test in Derry and Strabane between February 24 and February 25 was 21.

In total 11,139 people have now tested positive for the illness in Derry and Strabane.
