Derry/Strabane COVID-19 prevalence rate continues to drop but is still above pre-Christmas levels

The seven-day coronavirus case rate per 100,000 fell again in Derry/Strabane on Tuesday, according to data released by the Department of Health.

Between January 5 and January 11, there were 546 confirmed positive cases of the virus in the district giving a seven day rate per 100,000 of 362.4.

The case rate has been dropping gradually over the past nine days but is still above pre-Christmas levels.

The average prevalence rate for the north over the same seven day period was 467.8 per 100,000. This has also been falling.

Rates are higher in Mid Ulster (662.3), Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon (653.8), Newry, Mourne and Down (646.5),, Antrim and Newtownabbey (475.9), Mid and East Antrim (428.6), Fermanagh and Omagh (420.3) and Belfast (396.5).

Only three areas have lower rates than Derry/Strabane.

The daily change in the cumulative number of patients with a positive test in Derry and Strabane between January 10 and 11 was 68.

In total 10,120 people have now tested positive for the illness in Derry and Strabane.

There were no further registered deaths on Tuesday.
