Man accused of attempting to murder wife returned for trial to Derry Crown Court
A man has been returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on a charge of attempted murder of his wife.
Syed Raghib Ali Rizvi (58) of The Hillocks in Derry appeared at a Preliminary Enquiry at the local Magistrate's Court.
He was charged with the attempted murder of his wife on June 13, 2025.
He was also charged with arson endangering life on the same date.
Syed Raghib Ali Rizvi was further charged with three counts of threats to kill and one count of assault, again on the same date.
During the hearing at the Magistrate’s Court in Derry on Wednesday it was accepted that there was a case to answer and there were no contrary submissions.
Rizvi said he did not wish to call any witnesses or make any statement at this stage.
The defendant was returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on October 6 this year and remanded in continuing custody.
