Derry Halloween: Switch in weather good news for Europe's largest celebration

Things are looking up weather-wise over the next few days in time for Derry’s Samhain celebrations with a lot of pleasant and more settled weather forecast across the four days of the largest Halloween party in Europe.

While we are still a few days away from the festival getting under way, both the Met Éireann and the Met Eireann concur that it is looking like Derry will enjoy a good deal of dry weather with temperatures by day ranging from 12 and 14 degrees Celsius and no frost forecast over the period.

There will be some showers throughout the four day period but both meteorological bodies are forecasting a good deal of dry weather too.

The switch to more pleasant weather next week will come as a welcome relief to the tens of thousands of attendees, performers and festival organisers in the wake of Storm Boelo pounding the north west this weekend.

Over recent years, some Derry Halloween events have had to be halted due to stormy weather but there are no warnings listed for the week ahead.

And for the big Halloween finale parade and fireworks display on Saturday evening, October 31, the Met Office is forecasting that by the time the parade starts at 7pm it will be 6 degrees Celsius with just a 10% chance of a shower at this stage, so it would be worth wrapping up warm and maybe bring an umbrella just in case.
