Man who assaulted security guard and 'came off worst' in Derry sentenced
Derry Magistrate's Court has heard how a man attacked a security guard in the city centre and had ‘come off worst’.
Ciaran Patrick McKenna (36) of Coleraine Road, Portstewart admitted assaulting the security guard and assaulting a doctor in Altnagelvin Hospital on June 11.

The court heard that the defendant approached the security guard at the Northern Ireland Housing Executive office in Waterloo Place and was told the office was closed.
McKenna became verbally abusive, walked away before returning and assaulting the security guard, who defended himself.
All of this was captured on CCTV and McKenna was arrested and taken to hospital.
While being treated in the hospital, McKenna punched at a doctor who was treating him.
Defence solicitor Paddy MacDermott said his client had pleaded guilty at the first opportunity.
He said in the incident with the security guard McKenna had 'come off worst' from what he described as 'summary justice'.
As regards the assault on the doctor he said McKenna said he could not recall anything about this.
District Judge Ted Magill said there was 'far too much antisocial behaviour, abuse and assaults directed at health care staff'.
The judge also said that the defendant had 26 previous convictions.
McKenna was sentenced to 6 months in custody.
