P.E. involving allegations of perverting the course of justice adjourned at Derry court

A Preliminary Enquiry involving a woman who has been charged with 10 charges including perverting the course of justice by making false sexual assault allegations has been adjourned at Derry Magistrate's Court.

Catherine Clare Malcolm (46) of Grovemount Court in Derry faces a total of 10 charges, eight of them involving alleged false allegations of sexual assault and two allegations of rape.

The charges are alleged to have occurred on dates between December 21, 2015 until November 6, 2018.

Defence counsel Aoife Macauley told the court that she had only recently become involved in the case and that the papers in relation to the case run to more than 1,000 pages and she needed some time to study them.

Addressing the court at the hearing on Monday, the defence counsel asked for an adjournment in the PE until November 5 to allow her time to read the papers and this was granted.
