R driver detected driving at 82mph Derry Magistrate's Court told
Derry Magistrate's Court has heard that an 18-year-old R driver was detected driving at 82mph which is 37mph more than the speed he is legally allowed to drive at.
Conall Harkin of Spoutfields in Coleraine was detected driving at 82mph on August 3 this year at the Foreglen Road on the A6 road.
He was found to be a Restricted driver and thus had to drive below 45mph.
Defence solicitor Keith Kyle told the Magistrate’s Court on Monday that it was accepted it was a high speed and the defendant had no real explanation.

District Judge Suzanne Rice said that she could not turn away from such a high speed.
She told Harkin that he should be all too aware that excessive speed kills. The judge also added that she wanted to send out a 'strong lesson' to R drivers.
She disqualified Harkin for three months and he was also fined £250.
