Street fight leads to man being sentenced at Derry Court
A man has appeared at Derry Magistrate's Court charged with disorderly behaviour following a fight in the street.
Mark Doherty (25) of the Northland Road in Derry was charged in connection with an incident that occurred on September 26 this year after two men were seen brawling.
The men were separated during the episode, but the court was told that they were later seen shouting aggressively at each other.
Speaking during the hearing on Friday, Defence solicitor Seamus Quigley said that he had been instructed that the other man had started the fight, and that drink had been taken by both parties.

District Judge Ted Magill noted that Doherty had received a suspended sentence in April this year for a number of offences, including criminal damage.
He also noted that Doherty 'has a limited record' and had pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity.
Doherty was sentenced to one month in custody, and this was suspended for 12 months.
