Police say they are growing increasingly concerned for the welfare of Derry man Kevin McDermott.

The 51-year-old was last seen in Galliagh at the beginning of August, and made contact with family members on Sunday, August 9 advising he was staying in Bilbao, Spain.

Police confirmed Mr. McDermott was reported missing on Monday, August 24.

"As part of our ongoing enquiries we have been engaging with Interpol who have made contact with Spanish authorities,” the PSNI said.

Mr. McDermott has links to Donegal, said the PSNI, who indicated they ‘are keen to explore any lines of enquiry concerning Kevin’s potential whereabouts’.

He is described as approximately 5’8” of slim build and with fair shoulder length hair.

“We would urge anyone who has information about his whereabouts to make contact with us as we are growing increasingly concerned for his well-being.

“If you have any information which may help us to locate him, please contact police on 101, quoting reference number 672 24/08/26,” the PSNI said.
