Post Office hopes Bishop Street operation can reopen soon

The Post Office hopes its operation in Doherty’s Food Fare – formerly Harry Grant’s – in Bishop Street will reopen shortly.

A Post Office spokesperson said: “Bishop Street Post Office has been short-term temporarily closed since last week. We apologise for any inconvenience that this temporary closure may cause.

"We do not yet have a re-opening date, but we are hoping that this will be soon. In the meantime, alternative nearby branches include Creggan and Londonderry.”

Sinn Féin Councillor Patricia Logue said: “I have been in touch with residents in the area who are concerned that the shop has been closed for a number of days and this means the Post Office services within the store have also not been accessible for the community.

“The shop has been a focal point for the community in this area, and it would be a shame for these services to be lost.”

The ‘Journal’ has been unable to make contact with the proprietors by telephone or email.
