Plans for new Hazelbank play park progressing
Plans for a new £832,000 Hazelbank play park are progressing with the submission of a planning application for the long-anticipated new facility.
Derry City & Strabane District Council (DC&SDC) have moved forward with its application for the new park on the Ringfort Road.
The new play park is being developed adjacent to the proposed new £1.266m Hazelbank Community Centre development, which is also being progressed separately.
In a planning statement Maura Fitzpatrick, Green Infrastructure Team Lead, at DC&SDC stated: “The scheme will enhance the community facilities approved through the provision of a new play park, including, safety surfacing, seating area, connecting paths, tree planting, and new play area fencing with a self-closing gate.”

It will, the planning statement adds, deliver ‘modern, inclusive play equipment and associated landscaping that will improve safety, accessibility, and the overall quality of the space, directly addressing the needs and aspirations identified by the local community’.
