Optimism surrounding a new, state of the art clubhouse, pitch and pavilion is being mirrored by increasing numbers at underage levels and the promise of a bright future. As Games Promotion Officer at the Creggan club, Clonmel native O'Donnell has played a a pivotal role in taking the club back into schools and back into the heart of the community.
Since his own playing days, O'Donnell has never been too far from the action at Piggery Ridge so we asked him to search his memory banks and come up with his own 'Dolan's Dream 15' and it's quite a side! Have a look and see what you think . . .
13. FULL-FORWARD: Oran Cassidy
Another great player who had the brains to play anywhere. Technically very skilful and deadly accurate from frees but would also defend for you. Fit or not, always gave 100%. Has another comeback in him! | jpimedia Photo: Derry Journal
14. FULL FORWARD: Paul Melaugh
One of the best fielders of a ball in the county. Can play full forward or midfield and be equally effective. Very strong and superb from frees or play. Claims to have been retiring the past five years but keeps getting better! | jpimedia Photo: Derry Journal
15. FULL-FORWARD: Odhran McKane
Serious footballer with the ability to take men on and beat them. Can score from anywhere and is good enough to play for any club in the county. Serious athlete and will only get better. | jpimedia Photo: Derry Journal
16. SUB: Ciaran WIlkinson
A Derry minor in 1996 and a great warrior in midfield. Brilliant at fielding in the middle of the park and a driving force for others. Another playing 20 plus years for the seniors. | jpimedia Photo: Derry Journal
