GOLF: Smith wins charity open at City of Derry
Sixteen handicapper Conrad Smith posted 41 points to take the main prize for men while Ms Geraldine Crossan’s 33 points was the best of the ladies scores on a break-of tie.
Smith’s front nine of 18 points was steadiness itself and a back nine of 23 points secured the title by a single point from no fewer than five players who all carded 40 totals.

The amiable Andrew McFeely was a welcome figure in third place with a round that showed he may well be about to go on a run of form in the August tournaments.
