Walled City Marathon warm-up event open to entries

It's a new year and most runners and joggers will have sorted their training and competitive targets for 2016.

Dairy dates have been red flagged and progressive training programmes put together and despite the difficult weather conditions, the miles have begun to be logged for the challenges ahead.

Many locals will have Sunday, June 5th pencilled in to those programmes. It’s the fourth staging of the SSE Airtricity Walled City Marathon and the entries have been coming in for some time now with the June classic firmly embedded in the running calendar and training schedules already geared towards taking on the 26.2 miles around the banks of the Foyle.

Entries are now also open for the WCM organised official warm up race, the SSE Airtricity 10 Miler, on Saturday, March 5th, an ideal run out over significant sections of the Marathon route. It is set for 10.30am out of the Ebrington site and offers a revised finish location on the St. Columb’s Park track this year, to take out the testing last few kilometres of previous years.

The entry fee is £15 and £20 after Friday, February 26th. Race T Shirts are guaranteed to everyone who enters by February 26th so get online now to www.thewalledcitymarathon.com and get yourself signed up!

Entry for the WCM can also be made via the above website and inquiries on both races should go to [email protected]
