Derry COVID-19 rate falls back below 100 cases per 100k and is third lowest in the north

The seven-day coronavirus rate in Derry and Strabane has fallen back below 100 cases per 100,000 but is no longer the lowest in the north.

Between February 1 and February 7, there were 144 confirmed positive cases of the virus in the district giving a seven day rate per 100,000 of 95.6, down from 97.6 on Sunday.

The rate had risen over several days last week to the point where it was back above 100 cases per 100,000 on Friday (102.2) and Saturday (103.5).

Derry/Strabane is now recording the third lowest coronavirus rate in the north. The lowest rates are in Fermanagh and Omagh (84.7) and Lisburn and Castlereagh (85.4).

Rates remain higher in Mid Ulster (267.1), Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon (238.7), Newry, Mourne and Down (165.4), Antrim and Newtownabbey (161.2), Belfast (151.5), Mid and East Antrim (126.3), Ards and North Down (98.2) and Causeway Coast and Glens (95.7).

The average prevalence rate for the north over the same seven day period was 155.2, down from 160.2 per 100,000 yesterday.

The daily change in the cumulative number of patients with a positive test in Derry and Strabane between February 6 and February 7 was 16.

In total 10,841 people have tested positive in Derry and Strabane since the start of the pandemic last year.
