Temperatures to hit 18°C across Derry & Donegal this week as spring warms up at last

After what has been a cold and wet start to spring, temperatures will finally start to warm up this week, reaching 18°C in the north west just in time for the weekend.

And as an added bonus there’s not a rain cloud in sight in the forecast for the week ahead.

The Met Office’s forecast for Derry shows that while the week is start off today, Monday, with highs of just 12 degrees, this will steadily climb over the coming days, reaching 15°C by Wednesday and then hitting 18 degrees on Friday and Saturday, with plenty of sunshine around. It will stay warm and dry into Sunday with highs of 17 degrees with some sunshine and light cloud.

It’s a similar picture across much of Donegal, including Inishowen, in Met Éireann’s forecast for the week ahead.

Ireland’s weather body states: “High pressure stays close by for the week ahead with plenty of dry and bright weather.”

"Breezy at first with moderate to fresh easterly winds, easing later in the week with temperatures increasing also.

“Remaining mostly dry and settled for the weekend with plenty of sunshine and temperatures in the mid to high teens.”

Make the most of it while it lasts. And not to tempt fate, but it might just be time to get the sunscreen out from the back of the cupboard.
