Coleraine are off to Seaview on Saturday

In form striker Matthew Shevlin has warned supporters to expect a totally different game to the last time the two teams met when Coleraine face Crusaders this weekend.

On that occasion, back in September, the Bannsiders had the game wrapped up inside the opening 10 minutes after racing into a 3-0 lead.

It was a blistering performance from Ruaidhri Higgins’ side at the Showgrounds but Shevlin doesn’t expect the visitors to have things all their own way at Seaview on Saturday.

“It'll definitely not be the same game as earlier in the season here,” claimed the 27-year-old.

“Obviously we're away from home so, naturally, that makes it harder.

“We started like a house on fire that night and stopped Crusaders in their tracks so it was hard for them to come back.

“I expect a really tough game on Saturday but, hopefully, we can get the three points and keep adding to the table.

“We've had a strong start to the season but ultimately we're only 12 games in.

“We can't keep looking back and thinking we're happy with our start, we need to keep going.

“We know that every game in this league is tough and we need to pay respect to Crusaders for Saturday as well.

“It'll be a tough game going there as they've been good this season,” he added.

Indeed they have.

Declan Caddell’s side, who narrowly avoided relegation from the top flight last season, have five wins on the board already this time round and sit just outside the top six.

However, they have a poor recent record against Saturday’s opponents - losing their last six games in all competitions, including that 4-1 defeat last month.

Coleraine currently top the table, two points ahead of nearest challengers Linfield, but could be overtaken should the Blues beat Portadown on Friday night.

Elsewhere this weekend, all eyes will be on the Oval where former Newcastle United and Everton striker Duncan Ferguson takes charge of Glentoran for the first time.

The Glens host Ballymena United in an intriguing game.

Larne, who have lost their last two games in the league to Coleraine and Linfield, will be desperate to get points on the board when they travel to Bangor in Saturday’s tea-time kick-off.

In the remaining two games, Limavady United travel to Carrick Rangers whilst Dungannon Swifts host Cliftonville.
