Team Torres Derry prodigy Tyainon Cartin clinches major European title in Rome

Team Torres Derry is celebrating an extraordinary international triumph as 16-year-old Tyainon Cartin won the Gold medal at the IBJJF European No-Gi Championships in Rome, Italy, on Sunday, November 1.

The tournament is universally recognised as one of the four major prestigious championships on the global Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu calendar, drawing elite athletic talent from across the globe. Competing at the absolute highest level, Cartin fought through a grueling bracket to defeat world-class competitors from powerhouse nations, including Brazil, Ukraine, and Poland, to secure the top spot on the podium.

The victory officially solidifies Cartin’s position as the current Number One Ranked Juvenile Blue Belt in the World.

His historic gold in Rome caps off a flawless debut year in the blue belt division. Earlier this year, Cartin made history as the youngest member of Team Torres Derry ever to be promoted to blue belt. Since his promotion, he has relentlessly proved his elite caliber by dominating not only his own juvenile bracket but also challenging and winning championships in the adult divisions.
